Product Code TMT 026
Description
Rehydration Fluid is a formulated diluting fluid for preparing stable bacterial test suspensions for use in Growth Promotion Testing (GPT). It offers an easy to use solution for laboratories that regularly conduct GPT of microbiological culture media, and require a ready-to-use test inoculum.
The fluid may be used to prepare a variety of uniform bacterial suspensions and further dilutions to the desired inoculum for use in the GPT. Prepared aliquots could then be stored for extended periods under suitable frozen conditions in accordance with recommendations, avoiding the need to prepare fresh dilutions for each subsequent test.
Intended for use with suitable bacterial test strains, the prepared suspension should be adjusted to match the initial count before being used for the next round of testing. Under the suggested conditions of storage, the prepared suspension is found to provide stability for 20 days and recovery within the given acceptance limits. This makes this product very suitable for laboratories performing regular media quality and performance testing.
Rehydration Fluid has proven usefulness in microbiological quality control where a consistent and reliable test suspension is needed to test the growth promoting characteristics of culture media. It can be used in testing prepared media and media prepared in the laboratory. It provides a simple alternative to repeated dilution and inoculum preparation.
To achieve optimal results, please ensure that you prepare, aliquot, store and utilize the bacterial suspension as prescribed and stored under the specified conditions. Do not repeatedly freeze and thaw the suspension.
Principle
Rehydration Fluid is a diluting fluid for use in the preparation of stable bacterial test suspensions utilized in Growth Promotion Testing (GPT). It enables microbiological laboratories to produce standardized, ready-to-use test suspensions of the appropriate microbial count required and suspension stability for subsequent growth promotion tests. The preparation and storage of ready-to-use bacterial suspensions becomes more convenient, eliminating the need to prepare duplicate cultures and the process of serial dilutions. Under recommended conditions, aliquots of prepared suspensions can be stored and used for long periods of time. This facilitates routine microbiological quality control and standardized growth promotion testing.
