Description
Transport Swabs with Cary-Blair Medium Base are intended for collection, preservation and transport of clinical specimens and the viability of pathogenic organisms is maintained until the specimen is processed. The integrated swab and Cary-Blair transport medium combined into one convenient sampling system minimizes shifts in the microbial population in transit and results in reliable diagnostic outcomes.
Based on the well-established Cary-Blair formulation, the medium is chemically defined, non-nutritive, and formulated with minimal nutrients to prevent significant microbial multiplication while preserving cell viability. Sodium thioglycollate lowers the redox potential and creates a protective environment against oxygen for bacteria that are sensitive to oxygen, and the alkalinity of pH protects enteric pathogens survival in transport. Both pH and Osmotic Stability are controlled by balanced salts and the use of the phosphate buffer which supports to maintain the structural viability of the organism during their transport.
Collect and transport viable isolates of clinically significant bacteria like Salmonella spp, Vibrio cholerae, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Enterobacter aerogenes, and Neisseria meningitidis with these Transport Swabs with Cary-Blair Medium Base. An integral part of sample processing in hospitals, labs, and public health organizations, these devices preserve specimen integrity, ensure better microbial recoveries, and provide valid results in situations when immediate processing is not possible.
