Soyabean Casein Digest Medium with Mannitol is a unique medium offering both the nutritional basis of a standard sterility testing medium while also having the capability to support the investigation of microbial fermentation responses. Designed for promoting growth of a wide variety of microorganisms and is ideal for the differentiation of mannitol utilizing organisms. This makes the medium useful in sterility evaluation, microbial cultivation, and certain antimicrobial sensitivity testing procedures.
The nutrients present in the medium are derived from casein and soyabean digests, to provide amino acids, peptides and other growth factors essential for microbial development. The fermentable carbohydrate in this medium is mannitol, and the pH indicator is the dye phenol red. When bacteria ferment mannitol and produce acid, the medium turns from red to yellow and serves as an indicator of fermentation activity that is easy to see.
