Soyabean Casein Digest Agar Plate is a general-purpose culture medium designed for the growth of a wide variety of organisms including fastidious ones like Neisseria, Listeria, and Brucella. Its highly nutritious, non-inhibitory nature allows its use for routine microbiological examination, for testing of sterility and for the detection of antimicrobial substances in food and other products. The medium is also recommended by various pharmacopoeias for sterility testing procedures.
The formulation of the product contains a combination of pancreatic digest of casein and papaic digest of soyabean meal which is a source of amino acids, peptides and vital nutrients which support strong microbial growth. Sodium chloride contributes to the osmotic balance, and when blood is added if necessary, it yields sharply defined haemolytic reactions without lysing the erythrocytes. It is free from X and V factors, so it may be used for testing the factor requirements of Haemophilus strains by incorporating different factor discs.
The medium is gamma irradiated to diminish the microbial load on the plates, packaging and the adjacent materials, being manufactured in controlled conditions. It also meets USP standards, so you can rely on it for consistent microbiological testing and quality control.
