Product Code TMP 045GT
Description
Soyabean Casein Digest Agar Plate with 0.5% Lecithin & 4% Polysorbate 80 is a selective culture medium for detection of microbial contamination and evaluation of sanitisation procedures. Recommended for recovery and enumeration of microorganisms from disinfected containers, equipment, environmental surfaces and water-miscible cosmetic products. It is a good medium for the reliable recovery of microorganisms from surfaces treated with quaternary ammonium compounds and phenolic disinfectants and is therefore suitable for routine environmental monitoring.
The formulation has casein enzymic hydrolysate and papaic digest of soybean meal which supply essential nitrogenous compounds and nutrients needed for microbial growth. Sodium chloride maintains osmotic balance, while lecithin and polysorbate 80 acts as neutralising agents that inactivate residual disinfectants that may inhibit microbial recovery. Quaternary ammonium compounds are neutralized by lecithin, and phenolic disinfectants and hexachlorophene are neutralized by polysorbate 80. Together, these neutralizers also inactivate residual ethanol, improving the recovery of stressed microorganisms.
The plates are gamma irradiated in their packaging to minimize the microbial contamination on the surface of the medium, plates and packaging material, with irradiation being indicated by an orange-to-red indicator stripe on the inner label. This ensures consistent performance and reliable results for general environmental monitoring and microbiological quality assurance.
Principle
Designed to assess surface sanitation by recovering microorganisms from disinfected surfaces through effective neutralization of residual disinfectants.
