Soyabean Casein Digest Agar Plate is a versatile, gamma-irradiated culture medium used for cultivation and subculture of aerobic microorganisms as per harmonized requirements of USP, EP, BP, JP, and IP. Due to its rich nutritional composition and absence of inhibitory substances, it is widely used in pharmaceutical quality control for sterility testing, microbial limit testing, antimicrobial preservative effectiveness testing, bioburden determination and routine isolation of microorganisms. Its versatility also allows its use in the maintenance of stock cultures and general microbiological examinations in different laboratories settings. The prepared plates are gamma irradiated to reduce the microbial load on the medium, Petri dishes, and packaging materials, ensuring high-quality ready-to-use performance.
The formulation contains a mixture of pancreatic digest of casein and papaic digest of soyabean to provide a balanced supply of amino acids, peptides, vitamins and other nutrients to support the growth of both fastidious and non-fastidious microorganisms. Sodium chloride maintains the osmotic equilibrium, and provides the appropriate environment for the stable growth of the colonies and reliable test results. Additional ingredients may also be added to the medium if enrichment or selective growth is required for specific microbiological applications.
