Soyabean Casein Digest Medium with BCP provides the nutritional properties of a general growth medium along with the convenience of having a pH indicator. This allows for its use also in routine cultivation as well as for visualizing metabolic conversions to the formation of acids. The medium supports a wide range of bacteria and fungi and is suitable for general microbiological applications.
The casein and soybean digests supply essential amino acids, peptides, and other nutrients which are necessary for the growth of microorganisms. Dextrose serves as an energy source, whereas the growth conditions are stabilized by phosphate buffer and sodium chloride. Bromocresol purple is used to clearly observe pH changes during the growth of microorganisms and utilization of carbohydrates. When acid is produced, the medium changes from purple to yellow. Thus, Soyabean Casein Digest Medium with BCP is suitable for fermentation test, educational demonstrations, and routine analysis in the lab, including with fastidious and non-fastidious organisms.
