SOYA CASEIN DIGEST AGAR (USP/EP/JP/BP/IP)

Soya Casein Digest Agar is a general-purpose culture medium for the growth of a wide range of bacteria in pharmaceutical products as per harmonized method. The medium with or without blood may be used for the enrichment and isolation of fastidious organisms and is suitable for the growth of anaerobic organisms. Its unique formulation allows for several routine microbiological applications.
Pancreatic digest of casein and soya peptone supplies amino acids, peptides and other necessary nutrients that are essential for growth of microbes. These nutritious components support the recovery and development of a broad range of microorganisms. Sodium chloride is involved in osmotic equilibriums in the medium and agar is a solidifying agent for plate-based cultivation.
The media is recommended for keeping stock culture, plate count and isolation of microorganisms from diverse types of sample. It is also an appropriate base for blood containing media where further enrichment is needed. These characteristics make Soya Casein Digest Agar an ideal medium for the routine testing of pharmaceutical microbiology, as well as for the general cultivation of microorganisms when general nutritive support is required.
