Sodium Sulphate (Anh.), AR Grade also known as the mineral thenardite, is a white crystalline powder and has a high solubility in water. It is commonly employed in analysis and synthetic procedures to dry organic liquids, which helps in the clean phases separation and better reaction results. The anhydrous condition of the compound makes it useful as a drying agent, in organic synthesis, as reaction efficiency and product stability depend on removal of water from the reaction medium. The AR Grade imparts more stringent control on impurities making it applicable for precision-based laboratory work.
