SODIUM POLYANETHOL SULPHONATE, (SPS), AR GRADE

Sodium Polyanethol Sulphonate, AR Grade is a sulphonated polymer in the form of cream to light tan coloured powder. It dissolves in water to give clear solutions suitable for preparation of laboratory solutions. The compound has anticoagulant activity in the biological system. Normal blood coagulation is influenced by it through its action on factors responsible for blood clot. This serves to keep the blood samples in a fluid state during handling and testing. The compound is therefore added to certain laboratory media and to diagnostic preparations in which prevention of clotting is needed. Its sample stabilizing property can be used to accurately observe and recover microorganisms or biological components in experiments.
