SHEEP BLOOD SOYABEAN CASEIN DIGEST AGAR PLATE

Sheep Blood Soyabean Casein Digest Agar Plate is a highly nutritious culture medium designed for the cultivation of fastidious aerobic and anaerobic microorganisms with excellent visualization of haemolytic reactions. Carbohydrate free formulation makes it easier to observe haemolysis and is especially useful for differentiation of clinically significant bacteria such as Streptococcus species. The medium is also routinely used for the CAMP test which is an important confirmatory test for identification of Group B Streptococci by their characteristic arrowhead-shaped zone of enhanced haemolysis.
The balanced mixture of casein and soy peptones provides essential amino acids, peptides and nitrogen for healthy bacterial growth and sodium chloride maintains proper osmotic conditions. The medium is supplemented with 5% sterile defibrinated sheep blood and is suitable for the recovery of fastidious organisms and for the demonstration of distinct alpha, beta and gamma haemolytic patterns. It is used for the cultivation and differentiation of organisms such as Streptococcus, Listeria, haemolytic Staphylococcus, Escherichia coli, and Pseudomonas species. This ready-to-use agar plate is a good choice for clinical diagnostics, microbiology laboratories, and quality control testing, with its reliable performance and evident haemolytic reactions.
