SCDM with 0.5% Soya Lecithin & 1% Tween 80 (Glass Bottle) is a sterile ready prepared culture medium designed for sterility testing, environmental and surface microbiological testing conducted within pharmaceutical, cosmetic, biotech and healthcare laboratories. Derivitve of Soybean Casein Digest Medium, (SCDM), this enriched media formulation enables the enumeration of a number of microogranisms including a wide range of bacteria, yeasts and moulds including a variety of fastidious organisms, which require supplementary nutrients in order to grow. Tryptone and soya peptone supply the nitrogenous and carbonaceous compounds, peptides, amino acids, vitamins and other constituents need to support microbial growth, together with the natural carbohydrate content of the soybean peptone increasing the recovery of stressed cells.

The osmotic value of the medium is controlled by the neutraliser salt content, ensuring optimum conditions for cell cultivation. Our formulation is supplied in a sterile glass bottle, ready to use and is commonly used for pharmaceutical and cosmetic Goods Manufacturing Practise (GMP), lot testing, validating cleanliness and testing all water-miscible cosmetic products for microbial survival during production.

Perhaps one of the greatest benefits of this medium is the addition of 0.5% Soya Lecithin and 1% Tween 80 as a powerful broad spectrum neutralising agent, to inactivate any residual disinfectants or preservatives that may be present as a result of the sampling process and which could potentially influence microbial recovery and enumeration. Soya lecithin effectively neutralises many disinfectant compounds such as quaternary ammonium compounds used during the sanitation programmes, whilst the combination of Tween 80 has been demonstrated to combat many other preservative compounds and disinfectant residues commonly encountered in GMP environment within the pharmaceutical and cosmetic manufacturing arena.

This medium is supplemented with 0.5% soya lecithin and 1% Tween 80 to allow neutralization of residual disinfectants and preservatives to recover stressed or low density organisms from surfaces of hygienic significance. This nutritionally rich medium allows for growth of a wide variety of organisms and is therefore suitable for surface monitoring of equipment, containers, water-miscible cosmetics and other critical manufacturing areas of the facility and for producing accurate microbiological analysis.
