Product Code TMP 011GT
Description
Sabouraud Dextrose Agar Plate is commonly used for the reliable cultivation of yeasts, moulds, and aciduric microorganisms across a wide range of microbiological applications. It is designed to promote fungal growth and, at the same time, to inhibit the growth of numerous bacterial contaminants, making it a dependable medium for routine mycological analysis. This medium is especially suitable for the isolation of fungi associated with skin and superficial infections and for the detection of microbial contamination of food products, cosmetics and clinical specimens. The prepared plates are gamma irradiated to reduce the microbial load on the medium, Petri dishes, and packaging materials, helping maintain product quality before use.
The combination of high dextrose concentration and an acidic pH provides a suitable environment for fungal growth and promotes the recovery of various yeast and mould species. Mycological peptone provides the nitrogen, amino acids, vitamins and other nutrients required for healthy colony growth and dextrose is a source of easily utilizable energy. In addition, the medium enables easy visualization of colony morphology that helps in identification of fungi and for routine laboratory work.
Sabouraud Dextrose Agar Plate is widely used in clinical microbiology, pharmaceutical quality control, food safety testing, cosmetic microbiology, environmental monitoring, and research laboratories for dependable fungal isolation and cultivation.
