POTASSIUM METAPERIODATE, AR GRADE

Potassium Metaperiodate, AR Grade, is a stable white crystalline powder with regulated amounts of impurities. It finds its applications as an oxidant agent in analytical chemistry, particularly for the colorimetric determination of manganese, where it converts manganese compounds into permanganates for measurement. In organic synthesis, it is appreciated for its powerful and selective oxidizing properties, and has therefore found use in oxidation reactions under controlled conditions. It is also employed as an analytical reagent in the estimation of potassium and cerium. The specified limits for loss on drying, chloride and sulphate are intended to ensure uniformity in behaviour and the assay not less than 99.% is sufficient to ensure good performance in the laboratory or in the field.
