ORANGE SERUM BROTH

Product Code TMA 010

  • Description

Orange Serum Broth is a selective and differential enrichment medium for isolation of related acid-tolerant bacteria related to citrus juice and other acidic food products. It is widely used in food microbiology laboratories to detect spoilage organisms that thrive in low-pH environments, making it particularly valuable for quality control and microbiological evaluation of fruit-based beverages and concentrates.
The medium is supplemented with tryptone, yeast extract, dextrose, and orange serum which is the result in a nutritious solution suitable for the aciduric bacteria, yeasts, and moulds. Tryptone provides nutrients such as essential amino acids and other nitrogenous compounds, while dextrose acts as an energy source for microbial growth. The vitamins and growth factors of the yeast extract and orange serum creates conditions similar to those of citrus products which facilitates the recovery of organisms adapted to an acidic environment.
Orange Serum Broth a good medium for the?growth of lactic acid bacteria such as Lactobacillus and Leuconostoc species, along with acid-tolerant yeasts and fungi that spoil fruit juices. The medium is widely used in the food laboratories and in the citrus industry to monitor the quality of the product, the hygiene of processing, and to detect the presence of the spoilage microorganisms prior to influencing the safety and the shelf life of the product.
