Product Code TM 614
Description
Tryptone Soya Agar with Lecithin and Polysorbate 80 is used in RODAC (Replicate Organism Detection and Counting) plates for the detection and enumeration of microorganisms present on surfaces of sanitary importances. Sampling from areas pre and post-treatment with disinfectant serves to assess cleaning procedures in environmental hygiene. The presence and number of microorganisms are evaluated by the emergence of colonies on the surface of agar. Perform biochemical testing for identification after counting the colonies. Casein enzymic hydrolysate and soya peptone provide nitrogenous compounds and other nutrients required for microbial growth. Lecithin and polysorbate 80 (Tween 80) are neutralizers reported to inactivate residual disinfectants from where the sample is collected. Lecithin neutralizes quaternary ammonium compounds and polysorbate 80 neutralizes phenolic disinfectants, hexachlorophene, formalin and with lecithin ethanol. The Soya Casein Digest Agar contained in this formulation acts as a supportive base for the predictable recovery of microorganisms from the surfaces tested. Suitable for monitoring clean room, equipment and water miscible product hygiene in the pharmaceutical industry, where it is widely used as a microbial content test agar. The Soya Casein Digest Agar ensures that after disinfection, any survived organisms can be recovered and evaluated. As the precise colony counts are important, proper handling and incubation are required. The medium allows for a broad spectrum of organisms, however, confirmatory tests are needed for identification of organisms where precise identification is critical in environmental monitoring applications, including those using microbial content test agar.
