Product Code 616
Description
Mercuric Red Oxide is an inorganic mercury compound, commonly prepared by heating mercury in the presence of oxygen or by the thermal decomposition of mercury nitrate, forming a stable red-orange powder with well-defined chemical characteristics. The compound has selective solubility characteristics, it is soluble in dilute hydrochloric and nitric acids, but insoluble in water, ethanol and ether. This behavior enables it to participate in certain acid-related processes and controlled chemical transformations in which the oxides of mercury function as reactive intermediates or oxidizing components in laboratory processes.
Principle
Mercuric Red Oxide is a high-purity inorganic oxide supplied as a bright red-orange powder for controlled chemical applications.
