Malt Extract Agar Plate Triple Pack

Malt Extract Agar Plate is a mycological culture medium based on malt extract, designed for the growth and enumeration of yeasts and moulds. It is suitable for the examination of clinical specimens such as skin scrapings, nail scrapings and other samples requiring fungal investigation.
Malt extract offers an acidic environment and nutrients for growth and metabolism of yeasts and moulds. Mycological peptone provides nitrogenous compounds and other nutrients essential for microbial growth and results in luxuriant growth having typical morphological and pigmentation features.
The medium can be acidified with sterile 10% lactic acid for mycological count to facilitate the growth of fungi. When suppression of the accompanying bacterial flora is necessary, antibiotics can be added to the molten medium as sterile solutions. Triple Pack is a user-friendly format that includes three plates for easy laboratory use. This medium is suitable for the routine cultivation and examination of fungi which need normal growth and characteristic colony formation.
