M-TGE WITH TTC INDICATOR BROTH

The M-TGE TTC Indicator Broth Ready-to-Use Liquid Media Tube is a sterile pre-prepared microbiological culture medium intended for the growth and counting of heterotrophic bacteria by the membrane filtration method. The ready-to-use culture media is supplied in tubes containing a 2-2.5 mL volume, thus streamlining the routine process, reducing the chance of contamination, and providing a ready measure of bacteriological media.

The media is prepared based on Tryptone Glucose Extract (TGE) Broth that is supplemented with 2,3,5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (TTC). TTC is an optical redox indicator that acts as a redox dye. It gets reduced from a yellow dye to an insoluble red indole dye by reducing bacteria, which are capable of surviving in the nutrient-rich media.

This ensures bacterial growth; colonies can be easily detected, identified, counted and differentiated on the membrane.

This is a highly nutritious medium allowing for a wide variety of heterotrophs, including injured cells, to be recovered.

During tests, sterile absorbent pads are soaked in the broth and membrane filters, containing the sample, are placed aseptically onto the pads before incubation at a suitable temperature. The colonies become red to deep red thanks to the TTC indicator, allowing them to be contrasted against the membrane filter, facilitating colony count.
