HPC MEDIA WITH TTC INDICATOR

HPC Media with TTC Indicator Ready-to-Use Liquid Media Tube is a sterile, pre-prepared liquid culture medium used to determine the number of heterotrophic bacteria by the membrane filtration procedure. Available in ready-to-use tubes containing 2 to 2.5 ml of media, it eliminates the need to prepare the media and provides a standardized, easy-to-use solution for the lab.

The medium utilizes 2,3,5-triphenyl tetrazolium chloride (TTC) as a redox indicator. This indicator is metabolized by metabolically active microorganisms into red-colored formazan, thus increasing the contrast of colonies.

The media support the growth of most heterotrophic bacteria isolated from potable water, environmental water and other water applications. Sterile, absorbent pads are hydrated with the broth. Membrane filters containing the sample are placed over the hydrated pads under aseptic conditions and incubated. The TTC present provides easy recognition of viable colonies by forming distinct red colonies after incubation.
