Ferric Sulphate (Hydrate), Extra Pure is an inorganic iron salt that is a light yellow to yellow-beige crystalline powder. It has iron in the ferric state along with bound water molecules in its structure. In aqueous systems, it releases iron ions which are available for various chemical and biological reactions. Along with other iron salts, the product is used to fortify foods and to maintain sufficient iron levels. It is also used for the treatment and prevention of iron deficient anemia. When taken orally in supplement form, iron salts can cause side effects including constipation.
