DL-ALANINE, 99%+PURITY CRYSTALLINE

DL-Alanine is a white crystalline powder with a slightly sweet taste and shows good solubility in water and formic acid. It is the racemate of D- and L-alanine, and is a non-essential alpha-amino acid that occurs in proteins. It serves as a model reagent in the development of racemic resolution methods for amino acids. It also participates in mixed ligands (chelate) with transition metals including Cu(II), Zn(II), and so can serve as a ligand in coordination chemistry. In biological systems, alanine is involved in protein synthesis, tryptophan and pyridoxine metabolism, and is also used by muscles and the central nervous system as a source of energy.

Used in amino acid research, chelation studies, and metabolic investigations.
