DITHIZONE, AR GRADE

Product Code 1853

  • Description

Dithizone AR Grade, also known as Diphenylthiocarbazone, is a black crystalline powder and is mainly used for metal ion complexation and chelation-based analytical procedures. Being a sulfur-containing organic compound it is a good ligand and binds tightly to a number metals including lead, mercury, and zinc. The reagent is typically utilized as a chelating agent in heavy metal poisoning tests and analyses of trace metals evaluation. Due to its intense and selective metal binding characteristics Dithizone is also extensively used in liquid-liquid extraction and solid phase extraction techniques. In specialized studies, it has been used in the preparation of CTAB-capped gold nanoparticles for the colorimetric detection of heavy metal ions. The compound has additionally served as a zinc-chelating ligand to remove zinc from bovine serum samples. Its reliable complex forming property makes Dithizone extremely useful for the analysis of metals, extraction related work and colorimetric detection applications where stable coordination chemistry is required.
