DEY-ENGLEY NEUTRALIZING AGAR PLATE

Dey Engley Neutralizing Agar Plate is a selective medium used for the neutralization of residual antimicrobial activity in microbiological testing of disinfectants and antiseptics. This helps differentiate whether a disinfectant has actually killed microorganisms or just stopped their growth. This makes the medium an important tool to validate cleaning and disinfection procedures in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and industrial environments.
The formulation contains a combination of neutralizing agents that cover a wide spectrum of commonly used disinfectants. These include compounds effective against quaternary ammonium compounds, phenolics, iodine, chlorine, mercurials, aldehydes, and other antimicrobial chemicals. Casein enzymic hydrolysate and yeast extract on the other hand, give the nutrients for the recovery of any surviving microorganisms. Dextrose supplies energy for microbial growth and bromocresol purple is a visual indicator which changes from purple to yellow as acid is produced during fermentation. This colour change provides a simple and reliable method for detection of microbial growth post-neutralisation.
