Product Code TMP 063
Description
CLED Agar with Andrade Indicator Plate is a ready-prepared, sterile, differential culture medium exclusively manufactured for the selective isolation and presumptive identification of urinary pathogens from clinical urine specimens. Developed on the basis of Cystine Lactose Electrolyte Deficient (CLED) medium, it allows the enumeration and differentiation of various causative microbial agents of urinary infections. Because it is specially designed as an electrolyte deficient medium, it inhibits Proteus swarming.
Use of amino acid L-cystine in CLED aids the growth of cystine-dependent coliform organisms. The added Lactose serves as a fermentable carbohydrate for differentiating lactose-fermenting and non-lactose-fermenting organisms. The Andrade Indicator in this medium ensures the production of optimal colour contrast to facilitate the distinction of characteristic colonial morphology. Thus, the colonies emerging from lactose-fermenting organisms range from pink to red, while those formed by non-lactose fermenters appear blue-grey or colorless, which can be efficiently examined for a routine urine culture.
The 90 mm Ready-to-Use CLED Agar with Andrade Indicator Plates are prepared employing strict quality control processes to guarantee consistent performance and uniform composition. The prepared plates remove the necessity of media preparation and contamination possibilities and save valuable time during laboratory work. This medium is ideal for urine culture, colony isolation and preliminary identification of pathogens of the urinary tract in clinical microbiology laboratories, hospitals, diagnostic centers & research laboratories.
