Product Code TR 120
Description
Butterfield’s Phosphate Buffered Dilution Water is used for preparing microbiological dilution blanks during the examination of food, dairy, and water samples. It provides a buffered environment that is stable for diluting test samples prior to microbiological analysis.
The sample dilution formulation is defined by the FDA BAM. It is also known as Phosphate Buffer pH 7.2. Its buffering capacity helps to maintain the pH of the dilution medium during sample preparation, facilitating microbiological testing.
Control of pH is important since major changes during dilution may affect the condition and recovery of the microorganisms. Using a suitable buffered diluent creates the right conditions for subsequent enumeration or detection methods.
It is provided as a clear, colourless liquid with a specified pH of 7.2 ± 0.1. It is intended for research use and can be incorporated into routine microbiological sample preparation workflows.
Monitor the pH of the dilution water during preparation to ensure that the dilution blanks are within the required range. Proper preparation, handling, and storage should be followed to ensure the solution remains appropriate for microbiological testing.
Principle
Supports microbiological sample dilution by maintaining a stable pH for preparing dilution blanks in food, dairy, and water testing.
