Description
Azur II is a combined dye consisting of an equal ratio of Azur I and Methylene Blue. It appears as a greenish-black powder which is used due to its intense coloration and stable staining characteristics. In laboratory applications, Azure II is used in Richardson?s stock solution for lysosomal glycogen staining. It is also employed in periodic acid-Schiff staining procedures for visualizing glycogen, nuclei, and cytoplasm in tissue samples. The staining ingredients combined together result in a distinct coloration which enhances viewing under the microscope and structural differentiation. Azure II is also applied in conjunction with methylene blue and basic fuchsin for the staining of semithin sections to provide detailed tissue observation in investigation and diagnostic work. Because of its reliable staining characteristics and broad histological applications, Azur II is still a valuable substance in pathology laboratories, microscopy research, and analysis of biological tissues.
