ASEPTIC PACKING LINE MEDIUM

Aseptic Packing Line Medium has been developed to evaluate and monitor aseptically packaged food and beverages, pharmaceuticals and biotechnological products in filling lines. It works by effectively supporting the growth of microbes in order to highlight the evidence of microbial contamination by showing acid and/or gas production. Thus, it aids in validating aseptic production lines for media fill studies and quality programmes.

Peptone and Yeast Extract supplied the necessary organic nitrogen compounds, amino acids, vitamins and growth factors required to grow many microbial species. Carbohydrates include Sucrose the major substrate to monitor metabolic evidence from any microbial production of acid.

Sodium chloride provides the required ionic strength in order to provide an isotonic environment for many microbes. Phenol red is included to act as a pH indicator that visualises acidity when the product ferments the provided sugars, thus changing the medium colour to yellow from red, indicating microbial development.
