Product Code 809
Description
Antimony Trichloride, Extra Pure is an inorganic compound composed of antimony and chloride ions. It is a white to grey crystalline solid. Under the appropriate conditions, the compound also reacts with organic molecules containing conjugated systems. These interactions are responsible for the generation of coloured complexes. This behavior is useful in analytical chemistry. The compound is employed as a reagent for the determination of vitamin A related carotenoids. It produces a blue-colored complex with these compounds in the reaction, which can be determined using colorimetric techniques. Due to this feature, it is utilized in lab analyses for identification and quantification of such compounds.
Principle
An inorganic chloride used in analytical chemistry for colorimetric detection of specific compounds.
