Product Code TMC 013
Description
The Anaerobic Jar System creates a controlled anaerobic environment for the cultivation of microorganisms that are unable to grow or survive in the presence of oxygen. The system operates with a sealed polycarbonate jar with a mechanism for evacuation and gas replacement. The air in the chamber is evacuated and replaced with a mixture of nitrogen, hydrogen and carbon dioxide.
A Petri plate carrier accommodates 10 Petri plates of 100 mm diameter and a culture tube carrier accommodates 8 culture tubes. This is where an anaerobe indicator tablet with resazurin helps to check the atmosphere inside the sealed jar. Under anaerobic conditions the indicator remains pink, but when oxygen is introduced into the chamber it turns purple.
Anaerobic Gas-Pack sachets provide the necessary anaerobic environment without the need for extra water or a catalyst. One sachet is adequate for jars up to 3.5 liters, while more sachets are needed for larger jars, according to their volume. The lid is airtight sealed by three finger clamps and a silicone O-ring to preserve the internal atmosphere during incubation. This setup supports routine anaerobic culture work in microbiology laboratories.
