ACRIDINE ORANGE

Acridine Orange is a high-purity dark orange to brown powder which is well known for being a multifunctional fluorescent staining reagent for molecular and cell biology. Because of its fluorescent nature, it is mainly used in the detection of nucleic acid in laboratory analysis. It is commonly used as a fluorescent nucleic acid stain for agarose gels to visualize DNA and RNA following electrophoresis. Acridine Orange has also been utilized to study apoptosis in many cell culture and tissue systems, and is therefore a valuable tool in the study of cell biology and biomedicine.
