WATER TEST KIT

Water Testing Kit is designed for the rapid and simultaneous screening of Salmonella species, Escherichia coli, Citrobacter species, and Vibrio species in water samples. This kit provides an easy to use and cost effective way for routine microbiological testing in laboratories or for field testing or rural surveillance of drinking water. The simple procedure and straightforward interpretation also help to make it useful for minimal technical training.
The set includes Part I, Part II, dehydrated media, and sterile PET bottles to process the sample. Part I allows the differentiation of Salmonella, E. coli and Citrobacter on the basis of hydrogen sulphide production and fermentation of carbohydrates leading to typical visual colour changes. Part II contains nutrients for the selective recovery of Vibrio species, including Vibrio cholerae and Vibrio parahaemolyticus. Selective substances inhibit the growth of disturbing bacteria and promote the growth of the target bacteria in an alkaline medium.
The colour-based reactions enable rapid visual identification without the need of sophisticated laboratory equipment.
