1-NAPHTHOL (1-Hydroxynapthalene)

Product Code 893

  • Description

1-Naphthol is a off-white flake with a characteristic phenolic odour. It is soluble in alcohol and insoluble in water, which influences how it is handled in different systems. The chemical and biological activity of 1-naphthol is derived from the presence of a free hydroxyl group on the naphthalene ring. It has been employed as a prooxidant in research to examine its potential to cause hemolysis, especially in zebrafish models of G6PD deficiency. The compound has also been investigated for its thermodynamic characteristics, including heat capacity, vapor pressure, and enthalpy changes. Furthermore, in aqueous solutions its properties under gamma radiation were investigated in order to know its decomposition patterns. These are the characteristics which make it significant in studies of chemical reactivity and bioresponse response analysis.
