SODIUM SELENITE, (ANH.) (Culture Media Ingredient)

Product Code 683

  • Description

Sodium Selenite (Anh.) is an inorganic salt of selenium in selenite ion form. This is a white crystalline powder and easily dissolves in water. The compound can serve as a source of selenium which is required by a number of cellular processes in biological systems. Selenium participates in antioxidant mechanisms which protect cells against oxidative damage. The compound can modulate cellular redox balance and the generation of reactive oxygen species. Sodium selenite has been evaluated for restoring antioxidant capacity in some cell systems by this mechanism. It promotes proliferation of cells and decreases oxidative stress damage and apoptosis in animal models like bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells.
