Product Code 662
Description
Sodium Sulphite (Anh.), AR Grade is an inorganic sodium salt available in the form of white crystalline powder which is highly water soluble. The compound consists of sulphite ions that show strong reducing behavior in chemical reactions. The ions react with oxygen and other oxidizing agents present in the system, thereby retard the oxidation and prevent unwanted chemical degradation. Due to this action, sodium sulphite is used as a preservative in certain food products. It prevents dried fruit from discolouring and aids in preservation during processing. It is used as a reagent in the laboratory in many analytical and chemical procedures. Its stable reducing character is useful in both research and industrial applications.
