POTASSIUM CARBONATE (ANH.), AR GRADE

Product Code 384

  • Description

Potassium Carbonate (Anhydrous), AR Grade is an inorganic salt which is white granular or fine powder and soluble in water to form an alkaline solution. Its basicity means potassium carbonate is often selected for reactions that need a mild to moderate basic environment. It is a very efficient, strong base in palladacycle-catalysed heck reactions, allowing carbon?carbon bond formation in organic synthesis. Potassium Carbonate is used in pharmaceutical and research laboratories as a drying agent for the removal of moisture from solvents and as a source of potassium ions. Its moisture free nature makes it ideal for a moisture sensitive environment. The Extra Pure grade is tested for impurities including chloride, arsenic, and heavy metals, this allows for consistent results in analysis and synthesis.

  • Principle

A water-soluble inorganic base supplied in granular or powder form, commonly used in laboratory reactions and chemical preparations requiring controlled alkalinity.
