M-FC WITH ROSOLIC ACID BROTH

M-FC with Rosolic Acid Broth Ready-to-Use Liquid Media Tube is a sterile, pre-prepared selective culture medium used for the detection and enumeration of faecal coliforms using membrane filtration method. Available in ready-to-use tubes containing 2-2.5 mL of medium, ready-to-use media tubes provide a simple solution that saves time in preparation and minimizes contamination chances.

The medium is designed to recover faecal coliforms selectively by supporting growth at 44-45C. The addition of Rosolic Acid will give a more selective medium by inhibiting undesired growth of competing Gram-positive bacteria. It aids the recovery of faecal coliforms from water samples and has a rapid ability to distinguish them. It is commonly used for microbiological water examination and recreational, waste and other environmental samples using the membrane filtration technique.

Tests are conducted by saturating the absorbent pads with the broth and aseptically placing membrane filters onto those pads. The membrane filter with the sample will be incubated. Total Coliforms are enumerated by incubation at 35–37°C, whereas faecal coliforms are selectively detected by incubation at 44–45°C. All faecal coliform colonies will come out as blue, while non-coliforms will come out as grey colonies.
