β LACTAMASE MIXTURE SUPPLEMENT (W/ 2 β II UNITS/MG & 20 β I UNITS/MG)

β-Lactamase Mixture Supplement is used for inactivation of β-lactam antibiotics including penicillins, first to fourth generation cephalosporins and carbapenems. It contains β-lactamase activities to facilitate degradation of antibiotics that might otherwise prevent recovery of microorganisms during microbiological testing.
The supplement is useful in applications where residual antibiotic activity may interfere with microbial detection or enumeration. It inactivates β-lactam compounds and thus helps create suitable conditions for the recovery of microorganisms that may be sensitive to these antibiotics. Therefore, the supplement is suitable for laboratory use with samples containing antibiotics and for microbiological quality control testing.
For preparation, rehydrate the contents of one vial with 10 ml of distilled water. Mix thoroughly to ensure complete reconstitution. Filter sterilize the prepared solution using a 0.2 micron syringe filter before use. Add a suitable quantity of the sterile solution as required by the particular application and testing procedure.
Any remaining sterilized solution can be stored at 2-8°C for up to 4 weeks. Proper aseptic handling should be maintained during reconstitution, filtration, storage, and application to prevent contamination and maintain reliable test performance.
