D (-) ARABINOSE, AR GRADE

D(-) Arabinose, AR Grade is a pentose sugar and a structural analogue of D-ribose. It is found in arabinogalactans present in plant materials and in the cell walls of mycobacteria.
This substrate is used for the detection and characterization of arabinose isomerase enzymes, which plays an important role in studies related to tagatose formation, a low-calorie sweetener. The product is a white to off-white crystalline powder.
Quality parameters include assay not less than 99.0%, with low moisture and low residue on ignition. The chloride levels are controlled rigorously.
