COLISTIN SELECTIVE SUPPLEMENT

Colistin Selective Supplement is intended to be used for the selective isolation of Clostridium perfringens from microbiological specimens. When used with CPC Agar Base with 1% Cellobiose, it provides selective conditions which improve the recovery of the target organism and suppress other microorganisms.
Colistin provides the necessary selective activity in the medium to assist in the differentiation and recovery of C. perfringens during microbiological examination. The supplement is supplied in a vial for easy addition to the base medium.
For preparation, rehydrate the contents of one vial aseptically with 10 ml of sterile distilled water. Mix thoroughly to disperse completely. Add the rehydrated supplement aseptically to 1000 ml of sterile, molten, cooled CPC Agar Base with 1% Cellobiose at 45-50°C. Mix well to distribute the supplement uniformly throughout the medium. Pour the prepared medium into sterile Petri plates and allow it to solidify.
The prepared medium is suitable for microbiology laboratories performing selective isolation of C. perfringens. Proper aseptic practices should be followed during preparation and handling.
