CATALASE (2000-5000 Unit/Mg)

Product Code 510

  • Description

Catalase (2000-5000 Unit/Mg) is a stable, brown to dark green powder with a definite enzymatic activity. It is an antioxidant enzyme and decomposes hydrogen peroxide into water and oxygen and modulates the oxidative balance in biological systems. It is widely used to investigate the involvement of reactive oxygen species in gene expression and apoptosis, and to assess the protection against oxidative damage of proteins, lipids, and nucleic acids. Uses of catalase include the removal of residual hydrogen peroxide from milk and cheese, in textile bleaching processes, and for testing the effects on viability of DNA-repair mutants of E. coli. The enzyme preparation meets specific activity between 2000-5000 U/mg, which ensures a reliable enzymatic performance and stable batch quality.
