SOYBEAN CASEIN DIGEST MEDIUM w/LTHTh

Soyabean Casein Digest Medium with LTHTh is used for the detection and enumeration of microorganisms in products and environments of sanitary importance, including water-miscible cosmetics and products containing antimicrobial agents or preservatives. The basic formulation of Soyabean Casein Digest Broth is prepared as per the recommendations of the current European, Japanese and United States Pharmacopeia.
The medium contains casein enzymic hydrolysate and papaic digest of soyabean meal which supply the nitrogenous compounds and other nutrients required for microbial replication. Its neutralizing system reduces the inhibitory effects of antimicrobial residues that may be present in the test sample.
Lecithin, polysorbate 80 (Tween 80) and sodium thiosulfate are used as neutralizers. Lecithin and polysorbate 80 neutralize quaternary ammonium compounds and parahydroxy benzoates, while sodium thiosulphate neutralizes mercurials, halogens, aldehydes and aldehydes. Histidine is a reducing agent in the formulation.
The medium aids in the recovery of microorganisms from samples in which residual antimicrobial or preservative activity might otherwise impair the growth of the microbes by including these counteracting agents. Thus, it can be used for normal microbiological examination of clean surfaces, equipment, containers, and relevant cosmetic or pharmaceutical samples.
