Product Code TSP 075GT
Description
Soyabean Casein Digest Agar Plate with Lecithin, Tween 80 & β-Lactamase is used for the detection and count of microorganisms in containers, equipment surface, and water-miscible cosmetics and for monitoring in clean-room environment of β-lactam antibiotics production. The medium contains β-lactamase combined with neutralizers to counteract the effect of residual disinfectant and residual β-lactam antibiotics to enhance the recovery of microorganisms from the tested surfaces.
Casein enzymic hydrolysate and papaic digest of soyabean meal supply the nitrogenous substances and other nutritional requirements for the growth of the microbes, and sodium chloride maintains the osmotic balance of the cells. Lecithin and Tween 80 serve as neutralizing agents of remaining germicidal and disinfectant products.
Lecithin neutralizes quaternary ammonium compounds, whereas Tween 80 neutralizes phenolic disinfectants and hexachlorophene. Together, they also neutralize ethanol. β-Lactamase destroys β-lactam antibiotics and is used for the isolation of resistant organisms from clean room environments. To diminish microbial contamination of the medium, the pack is gamma irradiated with the medium in the packaging material and the petri dishes.
