Product Code TMP 027GT
Description
Soyabean Casein Digest Agar Plate with 1% Glycerol, 0.5% Lecithin and 4% Polysorbate 80 is a selective culture medium designed to detect microbial contamination on disinfected environmental surfaces. It is widely utilized to evaluate the efficiency of cleaning and sanitizing by retrieving and counting microorganisms from containers, processing equipment, work surfaces and water-miscible cosmetic products following cleaning and disinfection.
The casein is hydrolyzed by enzymes and the medium contains papaic digest of soyabean meal, which serve as nitrogenous compounds, amino acids, and nutrients required for microbial growth. Osmotic balance is maintained by sodium chloride while lecithin and polysorbate 80 act as neutralizers of any residual disinfectants, which could interfere with the recovery of microbes. Lecithin is a good neutralizer of quaternary ammonium compounds and polysorbate 80 is a neutralizer of phenolic disinfectants and hexachlorophene. Together, these neutralizing agents also reduce the inhibitory effects of ethanol, enable damaged or stressed microorganisms to remain viable and grow.
The balanced formulation allows for dependable microbial recovery post sanitization, thereby considered a suitable medium for assessing cleaning performance and for monitoring results in environmental routine microbiological quality control.
