Description
Polycarbonate Anaerobic Jar is a durable, and reusable incubation system suitable for growing and isolation of anaerobic and microaerophilic organisms. Designed to generate controlled atmospheric conditions within a sealed chamber, it offers microbiology laboratories a useful and reliable instrument for working in reduced or oxygen-free atmospheres.
The jar works on the principle of evacuation and gas replacement, in which the air inside the jar is evacuated and then replaced with a mixture of gases including carbon dioxide, hydrogen, and nitrogen. This altered atmosphere helps in growth of certain organisms that cannot grow under the usual aerobic atmosphere. The jar is made of polycarbonate material, making it robust and easy to reuse many times under common laboratory works.
The system features an aluminium die-cast cover with inlet and outlet valve for connection of gas and vacuum to control atmosphere with precision. A plain lid is available which can be used with commercially available gas producing sachets. Three-finger clamps with screws ensure an airtight seal, which reduces the risk of leakage during incubation. Suitable for use with agar plates and other containers. The Polycarbonate Anaerobic Jar is used in clinical, research, pharmaceutical and industrial microbiology laboratories for reliable anaerobe culturing, including the detection of microbial counts.
Principle
